European Women’s Waterpolo Conference League: Göztepe and Chania record victories against Maltese sides

Göztepe 18–4 San Ġiljan
Göztepe secured their first victory in the European Women’s Waterpolo Conference League with a commanding 18–4 win over San Ġiljan.
The Turkish side dominated from start to finish, driven by standout performances from Chydirioti and Dabbag, who each netted six goals. Moroglu added a brace, while Mimides, Simsek, Yildiz, and Bozkurt contributed a goal apiece.
San Ġiljan struggled to match Göztepe’s pace and precision but still produced some positive moments through Elena Borg, who scored all four goals for her team, and Jovana Pantovic, who added one.
Chania 12–5 Sirens
Greek side Chania continued their strong form in the competition, claiming a second hard-fought victory with a 12–5 success over an improved Sirens team.
Chania were led by the clinical Koundouraki, who scored five goals, while Pateroy and Niarchakou each grabbed a brace. Kostia Koundouraki and Stratidaki added one goal apiece.
Sirens showed significant improvement from their debut match and managed to score seven goals in total, with Kaia Agius delivering an excellent performance by netting five, and Chloe Amato adding another two.
Despite the defeats, both Maltese clubs displayed resilience and signs of progress as the group stage continues.
