Marsaskala claimed a dramatic 11-10 victory over Exiles Welbees in an entertaining BOV Winter League clash that went down to the final seconds.

The match produced plenty of twists and turns, with both sides enjoying periods of dominance before Marsaskala ultimately held their nerve to emerge victorious.

Kurt Griscti gave Exiles the perfect start by opening the scoring early in the first session, but Marsaskala quickly responded through Philip Tabone, who went on to enjoy an outstanding individual performance.

Goals from Tabone and Marco Mannino helped Marsaskala establish a 3-1 advantage before Keith Tanti reduced the deficit for Exiles.

The match remained closely contested throughout the second session. Exiles fought back strongly through Mark Fenech and Griscti, while Marsaskala continued to respond through Matthew Soler and Kieran Grech.

Exiles briefly moved ahead at 6-5 late in the second quarter after another strike from Tanti, but Marsaskala immediately regained momentum and levelled before the interval.

The third session proved decisive as Marsaskala took control of the contest. Tabone continued to lead the charge with crucial goals, while strikes from Soler and Jamie Pace Mizzi helped the team open up a three-goal advantage.

Exiles attempted to stay in contention through goals from Fenech and Griscti, but Marsaskala maintained their composure and entered the final quarter leading 10-8.

The closing stages produced another tense battle as Exiles launched a late comeback attempt.

Griscti narrowed the gap early in the fourth session before Tabone restored Marsaskala’s two-goal cushion with what proved to be a crucial strike.

Tanti scored again late on to reduce the deficit to a single goal and set up a nervy finish, but Marsaskala managed to hold firm during the closing minute to secure a valuable win.

Tabone was the standout performer for Marsaskala with five goals, while Soler added two goals. Griscti led the way for Exiles with four goals, while Tanti and Fenech also made important contributions in attack.
