Doncic erupts for 41, leads Lakers to convincing win over Bucks

Luka Doncic delivered a stellar performance, scoring 41 points and hauling in nine rebounds to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 119-95 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday. The win capped a five-game road trip for the Lakers, who are now looking forward to welcoming superstar LeBron James back to the court.
Austin Reaves contributed 25 points and eight assists, while DeAndre Ayton added a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. For the Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 32 points, pulled down 10 rebounds, and added five assists and a block, but it wasn’t enough to keep pace.
Milwaukee struggled early, making only 10 of their first 41 shots, allowing the Lakers to build a lead as large as 31 points. Los Angeles connected on 13 three-pointers and out-rebounded the Bucks 47-39. Though the Bucks made 11 of 15 three-pointers in the second half, the Lakers consistently answered every rally.
Playing the second leg of back-to-back games, Doncic admitted he was ready to get home after a long week on the road. “We played a lot of games,” he said. “But everybody played amazingly, the way we found energy. I told the guys we’ve got to build on each other because I know everybody’s tired, but we came here to win.”
LeBron James, sidelined with sciatica, did not travel with the team and instead practiced with the Lakers’ G League affiliate as he prepares for his 23rd NBA season. He could return as soon as Tuesday when the Lakers host the Utah Jazz. “We can’t wait,” Doncic said.
In Charlotte, NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 33 points in under 30 minutes to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to their fifth consecutive victory. Chet Holmgren added 25 points and eight rebounds as the Thunder improved to a league-best 13-1 record.
After trailing 57-57 at halftime, the Thunder went on a 16-1 run to seize control and maintained a 17-point lead entering the fourth quarter. Even with Gilgeous-Alexander resting in the final frame, the Hornets—without LaMelo Ball—couldn’t close the gap. “We had a nice response out of halftime,” Thunder coach Mark Daigneault said. “We didn’t play our best game in the first half and we course-corrected nicely, which was helpful in the third.”
Meanwhile, in Cleveland, Donovan Mitchell scored 14 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter to lift the Cavaliers to a 108-100 comeback win over the Memphis Grizzlies. Trailing by as many as 11 in the third quarter, the Cavs outscored Memphis 32-16 in the final frame. Evan Mobley added 22 points and 13 rebounds for Cleveland.
Jaren Jackson Jr. led the Grizzlies with 26 points, but star guard Ja Morant played less than six minutes due to a sore right calf, finishing with just seven points.
