Malta’s men’s water polo national team has officially been named for the European Aquatics Water Polo Championships 2026, following the selection of the final squad by Head Coach Milan Ćirović, assisted by Jonathan Valletta.

The championships will be held in Belgrade, Serbia, between 10 and 25 January 2026, with Malta set to compete against Europe’s elite in one of the sport’s most demanding international tournaments.

Preparation Programme in Slovenia

As part of their final preparations, the Maltese squad will depart for Maribor, Slovenia, where they will undertake an intensive training programme between 5 and 9 January 2026. During this period, the team will train alongside the Slovenian national team, providing valuable high-level preparation ahead of the championship.

This training camp is expected to sharpen tactical execution, physical conditioning and match readiness, offering Malta the opportunity to test themselves against strong international opposition before the competition begins.

With preparations now entering their final phase, the focus shifts firmly to Belgrade, where Malta will look to build on recent progress and represent the nation with pride on the European stage.
