BOV Amateur League I: Qormi join Attard, Mqabba on top

In recent BOV Amateur League I action, the title race tightened as Qormi joined Attard and Mqabba at the top of the table following a 2–1 comeback victory over San Gwann at the Luxol Stadium. Despite Matteo Vella giving San Gwann a 21st-minute lead, Ayrton Azzopardi leveled from the penalty spot shortly after, and Kieran Paul Fenech secured the winner in the 73rd minute.
The Luxol Stadium also hosted a thrilling comeback by Xghajra Tornados, who overturned a two-goal deficit to defeat Senglea Athletic 4–2. Senglea appeared in control early on through goals from Steven Meilak and Nigel Scerri, but Richmond Baratuipre Hanson sparked the revival just before halftime. A late surge saw Raylon Kaylon Paisley net a brace, alongside a Dylan Mifsud strike, to seal the points for Xghajra.
At the Sirens Stadium, Lija Athletic continued their strong form with a 2–1 win over Luqa St. Andrew’s. Second-half goals from Ross McParland and Amir Amhamed put Lija in command, and they held on for the win despite a 67th-minute own goal giving Luqa a lifeline. Meanwhile, Mellieha and Kirkop United played out a goalless draw in the day’s other fixture.
League Standings:
The results leave Attard, Qormi, and Mqabba tied for the lead with 18 points. San Gwann follows closely with 16, while Qrendi (15) and Lija (14) remain within striking distance. Mellieha (11), Victoria (10), and Zejtun (10) sit mid-table, followed by Kirkop (8), Pembroke (8), Luqa (7), Xghajra (7), and Senglea (4).
