Bugeja steals the show with derby hat-trick as Inter rout Milan
Haley Bugeja delivered a breathtaking performance off the bench to power Inter to a commanding 5–1 win over AC Milan in the Derby della Madonnina, netting a sensational hat-trick.
The Maltese international was introduced at half-time with the match finely poised at 1–1 and wasted little time in swinging the momentum firmly in Inter’s favour.
Inter edged ahead shortly after the restart in the 49th minute before Bugeja took centre stage, scoring three goals between the 58th and 82nd minutes to emphatically seal the result.
The display was made even more remarkable by the context of her recent return from injury. Bugeja had been sidelined for a month after picking up a knock in a Serie A Femminile clash against Roma and only made her comeback last week in the victory over Genoa.
This derby masterclass, however, signalled her full return to peak form, underlining her growing influence in one of Italian football’s fiercest rivalries.
