Johan Attard retains Malta Blackball Championship title
Johan Attard successfully defended his Malta Blackball Championship crown after edging past Stephen Mangion 10–9 in a dramatic final at the MBF Arena in Birkirkara.
Attard made a flying start, racing to a 5–1 lead, but Mangion responded superbly, mounting a strong comeback to turn the match around and go 7–5 ahead.
With everything on the line, both players produced some exceptional play as the final frame approached. The score stood at 9–9, setting up a nail-biting decider. Attard held his nerve, sinking the winning ball to seal another national triumph.
This victory marks Attard’s fifth Malta Championship title, further cementing his reputation as one of the country’s most successful blackball players.
At the end of the final, senior member Lino Lauro presented the trophy to the champion.
