1. FC Heidenheim claimed just their third top-flight point of 2026 as VfB Stuttgart were rescued by Deniz Undav in a thrilling 3-3 draw.

The Voith-Arena hosted a frenetic first half, with both sides trading goals before the break. Stuttgart opened the scoring after just five minutes when Chris Fuhrich exploited a defensive gap and calmly slotted past Diant Ramaj.

Heidenheim quickly responded, though, with Eren Dinkçi finishing confidently after a deflected cross from Christian Conteh, marking his first goal since returning to the club on loan last month. Stuttgart appeared to retake the lead through Ermedin Demirovic, but a VAR review ruled the goal out and instead awarded Heidenheim a penalty following Maximilian Mittelstadt’s foul on Dinkçi. Arijon Ibrahimovic converted from the spot to complete the turnaround.

Stuttgart fought back before halftime, earning a penalty of their own when Conteh fouled Chema Andrés inside the box. Mittelstadt redeemed himself by firing into the bottom corner, setting up a compelling second half.

After the restart, chances were rarer, though Alexander Nübel made a diving save to deny Ibrahimovic in the 50th minute. The drama continued late on: Demirovic appeared to give Stuttgart the lead with a header from Angelo Stiller’s free-kick, but VAR ruled him offside.

Heidenheim then surged ahead once more. Ibrahimovic drove forward in a three-on-one attack, and although Nübel blocked his effort, substitute Sirlord Conteh poked in at the back post to ignite the home crowd.

Stuttgart salvaged a point in the dying minutes, with Undav, already their top Bundesliga scorer with 12 goals, firing a fierce strike into the bottom corner to make it 3-3.

The draw provides Heidenheim with renewed hope of avoiding relegation, moving them to within six points of safety. For Stuttgart, their UEFA Champions League ambitions suffered a setback, as they failed to capitalize on RB Leipzig’s draw with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
