Three players confirm spots in Maltese National Blackball Team for Nations Cup
Three more players have successfully secured their places in the Maltese national Blackball squad after emerging victorious in the fourth qualification tournament for the 2026 Nations Cup, scheduled to take place in Gibraltar.
Miguel Amato dominated the men’s category, proving too strong for Kevin Schembri in the final, which he won convincingly 10-4. Amato displayed consistent precision throughout the match, making it difficult for his opponent to compete.
In the under-23 final, Nordai Desira defeated Matthias Debono 10-7. Desira showed remarkable consistency during the game and was a deserving winner of the title.
Finally, in the seniors’ final for players over 40, Antoine Aquilina overcame Mario Scicluna 10-6. It was a lively and skillful contest, but Aquilina ultimately demonstrated superior form to take the win.
Players not yet selected will have another opportunity in the coming days, as the fifth qualification tournament begins to fill the remaining spots on the national team roster.
