Brentford continued their strong home record against Burnley, securing a 3–1 win thanks to a burst of late goals—a result that means the home side has now triumphed in the last five Premier League meetings between the clubs.

For a Burnley team drained of belief after three consecutive defeats, simply surviving the opening quarter-hour against a confident Brentford outfit felt like a small victory. But beyond that, the visitors offered very little in the early stages. The Bees dominated territory and possession, and Mikel Damsgaard nearly teed up an unmarked Igor Thiago in the box, only for the striker to steer his effort narrowly wide.

Damsgaard remained Brentford’s most lively threat, forcing Burnley onto the back foot with his movement and energy. His long-range strike that whistled over the bar finally seemed to awaken the Clarets. In the 35th minute, Axel Tuanzebe found space for what looked like a promising opportunity, but his shot went straight at Caoimhín Kelleher—though the offside flag went up moments later. Burnley ended the half with a brief spell of pressure, capped by Zian Flemming’s low drive that Kelleher saved comfortably.

Whatever Brentford boss Keith Andrews said during the interval worked. The Bees came out aggressively and thought they’d taken the lead when Thiago converted from close range, but the goal was ruled out as Dango Ouattara had strayed offside in the build-up.

Ouattara came close himself moments later, glancing a header just wide as the hosts began to crank up the pressure. More chances followed, but Brentford’s finishing repeatedly let them down—Thiago sliced badly over from inside the box when he looked certain to score.

Burnley’s resistance finally cracked late on. Tuanzebe’s clumsy challenge gifted Brentford a penalty, and Thiago stepped up to bury it from the spot. But Brentford’s lead lasted only a few minutes. At the other end, Michael Kayode clipped Jaidon Anthony in the area, allowing Flemming to level the match with a composed penalty of his own.

Just when the game appeared to be drifting toward a draw, Brentford struck again. Thiago unleashed a fierce drive into the roof of the net, restoring the Bees’ advantage with authority. Burnley’s misery deepened in stoppage time when Ouattara added a third, sealing the win and leaving the Clarets still entrenched in the relegation zone—and increasingly desperate for answers.
