Bayern Munich left it late but ultimately secured a 3–1 comeback victory over St. Pauli, scoring twice in stoppage time to earn their 11th win in 12 Bundesliga matches and hand the struggling visitors a ninth straight league defeat.

The hosts arrived back in Bavaria in low spirits after a disappointing 3–1 Champions League loss to Arsenal, and their mood worsened when they made a poor start at the Allianz Arena. Relegation-threatened St. Pauli stunned Bayern with a sixth-minute opener, capitalising on slack play from Joshua Kimmich. Mathias Pereira Lage dispossessed the midfielder before threading a clever pass to Andréas Hountondji, who sprinted into the box and beat Manuel Neuer at his near post. Hountondji, however, was soon forced off through injury.

Bayern responded quickly, striking the woodwork twice as Lennart Karl curled a left-foot effort off the far post and Tom Bischof saw a deflected shot bounce against the upright. St. Pauli survived those scares and looked poised to reach the interval ahead, but their resistance finally broke on the stroke of half-time. Luis Díaz, receiving the ball inside the area, lost his footing but cleverly backheeled it to Raphaël Guerreiro, who drilled home the equaliser.

With momentum behind them, Bayern were expected to push on after the restart, yet St. Pauli worked tirelessly to frustrate the hosts. The woodwork came to the visitors’ rescue again when Harry Kane smashed a fierce strike off the post after goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj failed to deal with a corner.

As the match crept into its final moments, Bayern appeared out of ideas—until Díaz delivered a crushing blow in the 93rd minute. The former Liverpool forward found space in a tiring St. Pauli backline and headed in Kimmich’s pinpoint cross to complete the turnaround.

There was still time for a third, as Nicolas Jackson calmly slotted home to seal the victory and send Bayern eight points clear at the top of the table. For Alexander Blessin’s St. Pauli, the defeat leaves them one point from safety and still searching for a way out of their downward spiral.
