The 2025 summer transfer window was dominated by striker sagas, as Premier League clubs splashed the cash chasing some of football’s biggest names. Fabrizio Romano barely had a moment off Twitter as clubs negotiated record-breaking deals.

Eight games into the 2025/26 season, it’s already clear which signings are settling in quickly and which are struggling to live up to expectations. Here’s a look at every Premier League striker signing over £60 million so far.

Joao Pedro – Chelsea

Chelsea’s new Brazilian midfielder-turned-striker burst onto the scene during their Club World Cup triumph, scoring three goals, including one in the final against PSG. He carried that form into the Premier League, with two goals and a couple of assists in the opening three games.

However, since his last goal in the 2-0 win over Fulham, Pedro has gone nine matches without scoring. The main reason is that he thrives just behind a traditional number nine, a role usually filled by the injured Liam Delap.

Benjamin Sesko – Manchester United

The Slovenian forward was on the verge of joining Newcastle before Manchester United swooped, paying a reported £74 million from RB Leipzig. After a few substitute appearances, Sesko made his full debut in United’s Carabao Cup exit to Grimsby Town.

Now a slightly more regular fixture, he has two goals from four Premier League starts, a respectable return for a young striker adapting to a new league.

Nick Woltemade – Newcastle United

Newcastle’s transfer window was chaotic, with star striker Alexander Isak pushing for an exit and many target signings rejecting moves. Eventually, they secured Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart for £69 million, making him their record signing.

Woltemade has been the most prolific striker on this list, scoring five goals in eight games across all competitions, including four in five Premier League matches. His cheeky finish against Brighton showed that Newcastle may not miss Isak after all.

Grade: A

Viktor Gyokeres – Arsenal

Signed as the missing piece in Mikel Arteta’s title ambitions, the Swedish striker faced a steep learning curve in his first eight Premier League matches. Gyokeres impressed in Arsenal’s 5-0 win over Leeds, scoring in the style he showcased at Sporting, but struggled to adapt consistently to the Premier League’s pace.

He hit his stride with a Champions League brace, showing signs that he could become a crucial figure in Arsenal’s attack.

Grade: B-

Hugo Ekitike – Liverpool

Ekitike, initially linked with Newcastle, joined Liverpool for a reported £79 million from Eintracht Frankfurt. He scored in his first three consecutive games, but a red card in the League Cup win over Southampton has seen him rotate in and out of the starting lineup.

The French striker continues to adapt to his role amid Liverpool’s multi-striker rotation, though he scored in the Champions League this week, offering encouragement.

Grade: B

Alexander Isak – Liverpool

Liverpool’s £125 million record signing has endured a frustrating start. Isak has yet to experience a Premier League win in any match he’s started, losing six consecutive games for club and country.

Limited pre-season preparation has contributed to his slow start, though he did score in the EFL Cup win over Southampton. Overall, the big expectations have yet to be met.
