New York Knicks continue winning streak with Home Win vs. Lakers

The New York Knicks extended their winning streak to six games with a 112-100 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night, spoiling what could have been LeBron James’ final appearance at Madison Square Garden.
OG Anunoby led the Knicks with 25 points, while reserve Landry Shamet added 23 off the bench. Josh Hart contributed 20 points, and All-Star guard Jalen Brunson recorded a near triple-double with 12 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists.
James, the 41-year-old four-time NBA Most Valuable Player, has not committed to playing beyond this season, his record-setting 23rd in the league. While he did not confirm whether the game marked his final visit to MSG, he reflected on the arena’s significance.
“It’s the Mecca of basketball,” James said. “So many great players, entertainers, and people have been here. I hope I was able to leave a small mark as a visitor. I’ve always loved these fans.”
James added that Madison Square Garden will always hold a special place for him when his career comes to an end.
Brunson credited the Knicks’ recent success to teamwork and accountability.
“We’ve just been playing together,” he said. “Sticking together and holding each other accountable is the biggest part. We can’t be satisfied. It’s a collective effort.”
The victory improved New York’s record to 31-18, placing them second in the Eastern Conference behind Detroit.
Despite the loss, the Lakers received strong performances from Luka Dončić, who scored 30 points, and James, who added 22. James was recently named to his record 22nd NBA All-Star Game as a reserve.
“It’s super humbling,” James said. “To still be an All-Star at this stage of my career means a lot.”
The defeat marked the Lakers’ first loss of the season when leading at halftime, dropping them to 29-19.
