Neptunes sign Ivan Nagaev as Jake Muscat nears move to San Ġiljan

Neptunes have officially confirmed the signing of Ivan Nagaev, strengthening their squad ahead of the upcoming water polo season.
In recent weeks, Nagaev obtained Maltese citizenship, making him eligible to represent Malta at the European Water Polo Championships, which will be held in Serbia next January. Neptunes president Matthew Bonello revealed that the club had been in contact with Nagaev over the past few days, leading to an agreement for his return to Maltese water polo.
This move marks Nagaev’s third stint in the local league, having previously featured for Marsaxlokk and Valletta before sealing his switch to Neptunes.
Meanwhile, Neptunes are set to part ways with Jake Muscat, who is expected to complete a move to San Ġiljan. The Saints had been monitoring the player for some time, but Neptunes had initially turned down their approach.
The situation between Muscat and Neptunes escalated to the tribunal of the Aquatic Sports Association of Malta. However, an agreement now appears to have been reached, with Neptunes expected to accept San Ġiljan’s offer. Muscat is anticipated to finalise the transfer to his new club in the coming hours.
