The Maltese Waterpolo Referees Association (MWRA) proudly highlighted the recent international appointments of two of its top officials, Massimo Angileri and Alex De Raffaele, who successfully officiated key matches across the European Aquatics women’s competitions.

Angileri Officiates Euro Cup Women’s Tournament and Earns Champions League Nod

MWRA President Massimo Angileri concluded his third European Aquatics season appointment, officiating in Match Day 2 of Group C of the prestigious European Aquatics Euro Cup Women Tournament in Nancy, France.

On Saturday, Angileri refereed the match between Grand Nancy AC (France) and Zodiac Club Natació-Atlètic Barceloneta (Spain). Officiating alongside Mr. Andras Petik (Hungary), Angileri oversaw a dominant 27-4 victory for the Spanish side.

This regular high-level appointment continues to underscore Angileri’s consistent and well-controlled officiating on the international stage. The MWRA also extended congratulations to Mr. Angileri for his upcoming appointment in Match Day 3 of the European Aquatics Champions League Women, marking his second appointment in this season’s elite campaign.

De Raffaele Busy in European Aquatics Challenger Cup in Slovenia

Alex De Raffaele successfully concluded his first appointment in Group B of the European Aquatics Challenger Cup in Maribor, Slovenia, where he was one of four referees overseeing the group fixtures.

De Raffaele had a busy weekend, officiating three matches:

• Friday: AVK Branik Maribor (Slovenia) defeated Clube Naval Povoense (Portugal) 21-6. (Officiated alongside Mr. Erkan Turkkan, Turkey).
• Saturday: Carouge Natation (France) defeated Clube Naval Povoense (Portugal) 18-11. (Officiated alongside Mr. Bozo Duraskovic, Montenegro).
• Sunday: VK Ljubljana Slovan (Slovenia) defeated Clube Naval Povoense (Portugal) 17-12. (Officiated alongside Mr. Georg Schoen, Austria).

The MWRA congratulated Mr. De Raffaele for his consistent officiating across the demanding weekend schedule in Slovenia and looks forward to his continued appointments at the international level.
