Malta’s national teams continued to impress on the second day of the European Blackball Championships in Ennis, Ireland, delivering another string of strong performances that further cemented the island’s growing stature in continental cue sports.

The Men’s A team once again led by example, beginning the day with a dominant 19–6 victory over La Réunion. The Maltese side displayed superb tactical control, precise potting, and impressive composure to dictate the pace of the match from start to finish. Later in the day, they faced a formidable Scotland side in one of the tournament’s standout clashes, narrowly falling 13–12 after a tightly contested encounter that could have gone either way.

Meanwhile, the Men’s B team maintained their flawless form with two resounding wins — 21–4 against Wales B and 18–7 against Ireland B1. Their consistency, discipline, and teamwork have made them one of the most in-form teams in the competition.

The Under-23 team also continued their excellent run, defeating England U23 (Team 2) 14–11. The young Maltese players showed maturity beyond their years, combining sharp shot selection with steady focus — a promising sign for the future of Maltese Blackball.

In the Seniors divisions, results were mixed. The Seniors A team suffered two close defeats — 15–9 to England A and 16–9 to Catalonia — but their performances included several standout individual displays. The Seniors B team, on the other hand, impressed with back-to-back wins, beating Ireland B 15–10 and Ireland B1 16–9, underlining their resilience and adaptability.

The Grand Masters also delivered an exceptional day of play. Malta Grand Masters A claimed a commanding 11–4 win over Catalonia, followed by a thrilling 8–7 victory against Ireland A, decided in the final frames of the contest.

As the tournament progresses, Malta’s teams remain firmly among the top contenders across multiple divisions, combining experience, confidence, and technical excellence.
