Lazio return to winning form as Guendouzi and Noslin down Lecce

Lazio claimed a 2-0 win over Lecce at Stadio Olimpico, preventing the visitors from securing consecutive top-flight away victories for the first time in their history.
The hosts knew consistency was crucial if they were to break into the European places, having matched their number of scoreless draws with clean sheets so far this season.
Lecce had an early goal from Riccardo Sottil ruled out for a foul in the build-up, but Lazio dominated the first half. Boulaye Dia came close to opening the scoring, only to see his shot from inside the area saved by Wladimiro Falcone. The breakthrough arrived on the 30-minute mark.
Toma Basic battled to keep the ball in play near the byline and pulled it back to Matteo Guendouzi, who slid in to guide the ball just inside the left post, giving Lazio a 1-0 lead. The goal also ended Lecce’s hopes of recording three consecutive clean sheets in a single top-flight season for the first time since March 2004.
Lazio thought they had doubled their advantage shortly after the restart when Dia scored, but the goal was ruled out for a foul on Tiago Gabriel. Despite further opportunities—Adam Marusic’s close-range header saved by Falcone and Gustav Isaksen’s follow-up effort blocked—Lazio could not extend their lead during the main portion of the second half.
Lecce frustrated the hosts with a compact defensive approach, forcing a tense finish. However, the visitors lacked the cutting edge needed to threaten Lazio’s defense.
Lazio finally sealed the victory in the fifth minute of stoppage time when Tijjani Noslin converted a close-range header after his initial shot was saved, securing a 2-0 triumph.
The win lifts Lazio into the top eight, keeping them within reach of the European places, while Lecce remain 16th, just two points above the relegation zone.
