LaLiga Leaders Real Madrid Frustrated in Goalless Draw Against Rayo Vallecano

Real Madrid endured another frustrating evening in front of goal as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Rayo Vallecano at the Estadio de Vallecas, extending their winless run at the ground to four matches.
After being shut out by Liverpool in midweek, Xabi Alonso’s men once again struggled to convert dominance into goals. They started brightly, nearly taking the lead inside three minutes when Arda Güler’s fierce strike was well saved by Augusto Batalla.
Rayo, under pressure for much of the opening stages, had a rare chance of their own when Pathe Ciss released Andrei Rațiu into the box, but Thibaut Courtois stood firm to make a smart stop.
Los Blancos then ramped up the pressure, with Vinícius Júnior testing Batalla from close range after a clever knockdown from Jude Bellingham. Moments later, Raúl Asencio narrowly missed the target with a glancing header from Álvaro Carreras’ cross — a warning sign for the visitors.
The hosts managed to hold firm until the break, while Real struggled to find a way through despite their territorial dominance.
Rayo began the second half more confidently, with Jorge de Frutos nearly finding the bottom corner from close range. Real responded with several chances of their own — Güler curled an effort just wide, Bellingham drew another save from a tight angle, and Kylian Mbappé’s curling strike flashed narrowly past the post.
As the clock ticked down, the Vallecas faithful sensed an upset. Álvaro García missed two promising opportunities for Rayo, while Batalla continued his heroics, denying Federico Valverde’s powerful shot. In the dying moments, he again came to the rescue, smothering Éder Militão’s header to preserve a hard-earned point.
The result extends Rayo’s solid run to just one defeat in their last nine matches, while Real Madrid record their first competitive draw since June — and their first run of two games without a win since early April.
