Aston Villa extended their unbeaten run against Bournemouth to six matches with a dominant 4-0 victory at Villa Park, condemning the Cherries to back-to-back Premier League defeats for the first time this season.

Unai Emery’s side began with intent, immediately seizing control of the contest. Boubacar Kamara forced Djordje Petrovic into an early save inside the opening 15 minutes, setting the tone for Villa’s bright start.

The breakthrough arrived just before the half-hour mark through a moment of brilliance from Emiliano Buendía, whose superb free-kick from the edge of the box sailed over the wall and dipped into the net, leaving Petrovic rooted to the spot. The Argentine’s strike — his third Premier League goal of the season — sparked jubilant celebrations inside Villa Park.

Villa doubled their advantage before the interval as Amadou Onana unleashed a thunderous right-footed drive from distance after a neat layoff from Morgan Rogers, firing past Petrovic at the near post. It was Onana’s first goal for Villa since April and gave the hosts a commanding 2-0 lead at the break.

Bournemouth emerged from the dressing room with renewed energy, testing Villa’s resilience early in the second half. Alex Scott’s deflected shot was tipped over by Emiliano Martínez, before Evanilson saw his header crash against the post from a corner. The Brazilian striker then earned a penalty after his header struck Rogers’ arm, but Martínez once again proved his worth, diving low to his right to deny Antoine Semenyo from the spot.

Villa made the visitors pay for their missed opportunities, sealing the win with two clinical set-piece goals. Ross Barkley glanced in Lucas Digne’s corner to make it three, before Youri Tielemans’ strike took a heavy deflection off Donyell Malen to round off the scoring late on.

It was a complete performance from Emery’s men, who climbed to seventh in the table with the win, while Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth slipped to ninth on goal difference after a chastening afternoon in Birmingham.
