Kalkara United struck twice after the break to secure a solid 2–0 victory over St George’s in a BOV Amateur League II match played at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.

After a balanced first half in which both sides struggled to carve out clear chances, Kalkara began to take control in the second period and finally made the breakthrough on 66 minutes. Jean Claude Annati found the net to put his side in front and give them a deserved advantage.

St George’s attempted to respond, but Kalkara remained organised and doubled their lead on 77 minutes through Miguel Perez, effectively sealing the points with a clinical finish.

In the other match played, Rabat Ajax earned a 3–1 win over Għaxaq. Nigel Borg opened the scoring for the Magpies on 39 minutes to give his side the lead at the interval. Rabat strengthened their grip on the contest in the second half when Andy Paul Camilleri made it 2–0 on 72 minutes.

Għaxaq managed to reduce the deficit late on through Antoine Barbara on 89 minutes, but any hopes of a comeback were quickly extinguished as Yuya Emura struck in stoppage time to restore Rabat’s two-goal cushion and wrap up the result.

Following these results, Kalkara remain top of the table with 33 points. Msida are second on 23, followed by Dingli on 22 and Ta’ Xbiex on 21. Rabat Ajax move up to 19 points, with Mdina on 18 and Siġġiewi on 16. St George’s remain on 12 points, while Marsaskala, Għargħur and Għaxaq are all on 8 points. Sta Venera sit bottom with 3 points.
