Kalkara United tightened their grip on the BOV Amateur League II title race on Saturday, moving twelve points clear at the summit following a ruthless 9-2 demolition of Rabat Ajax at the Sirens Stadium.

The leaders set the tone early, with Ryan Dalli opening the scoring in the 5th minute, followed quickly by a Miguel Perez Jimenez strike just three minutes later. Perez Jimenez then converted a penalty in the 24th minute to hand Kalkara a commanding three-goal cushion. Early in the second half, Dalli netted his second to make it 4-0.

Rabat Ajax briefly threatened a fightback midway through the half, with Andre Debattista and Jamie Camilleri scoring in quick succession to reduce the deficit to 4-2. However, the floodgates opened again in the final twenty minutes. Lucas Barcik restored the three-goal lead in the 72nd minute before Luke Farrugia stole the show, netting a remarkable hat-trick in just five minutes. Isaac Abela added the finishing touch with Kalkara’s ninth goal shortly before the final whistle.

Dingli Move into Second; St. George’s Stage Late Comeback

At the Charles Abela Stadium, Dingli Swallows climbed into second place thanks to a narrow 1-0 victory over Ghaxaq. The decisive moment came in the 75th minute when Jayden John Bonanno found the back of the net.

Meanwhile, St. George’s showed great character to secure a 2-1 comeback win against Msida St. Joseph. After a goalless first half, Yessous Camilleri put Msida ahead in the 52nd minute. St. George’s rallied late, with Jaden Camilleri equalising fifteen minutes from time before Renato Coneceicao snatched the winner in the 88th minute.

In the weekend’s other fixture, Mdina Knights secured a slim 1-0 win over Ta’ Xbiex at the Charles Abela Stadium. The match was decided by a Giovanni Galea penalty seven minutes from time.
