The Malta Snooker Academy was the center of attention on Wednesday, 4th March, as the National Snooker Championships continued with a series of high-stakes matches. From dramatic deciders in the top flight to clinical performances in the veteran ranks, the evening delivered plenty of excitement for local fans.

Busuttil Triumphs in Premier League Decider

The headline match of the CE Installations Premier League saw Aaron Busuttil face off against Arthur Cachia in a grueling best-of-seven encounter. Both players traded frames in a display of tactical discipline and heavy scoring. Ultimately, it was Busuttil who kept his composure in the final frame to edge out a 4-3 victory, securing vital points in the premier standings.

Zammit and Farrugia Secure Division Wins

In the Goliath Coatings First DivisionDavid Zammit overcame a tough challenge from Richard Sheridan. The match remained balanced until the final moments, with Zammit eventually clinching the win 3-2.

Meanwhile, the Second Division saw a more one-sided affair. David Farrugia was in top form, leaving little room for Carmelo Bonnici to find his rhythm. Farrugia swept the match with a convincing 3-0 scoreline.

Borg Dominates in Masters Category

The Masters division featured a masterclass from Alex Borg, who showed exactly why he remains a formidable force on the green baize. Borg dismantled Fausto Barbara’s defense to win comfortably 3-0. In the same category, Emanuel Mallia also advanced with a 3-0 result following a walkover against Louis Thompson.

As the championships progress, the competition at the Academy continues to intensify, with several players now eyeing the top spots in their respective leaderboards.
