Juventus slip in Serie A title chase after stalemate with last-place Fiorentina

A spectacular long-range strike from Rolando Mandragora preserved Fiorentina’s unbeaten run under Paolo Vanoli, though the Viola remain without a Serie A victory this season after a 1-1 draw against Juventus. The result also keeps Luciano Spalletti’s Juve unbeaten in the league, though they once again failed to claim three points.
Juventus arrived in Florence seeking just their third away win of the 2025/26 campaign, but their early hopes were dashed after a key decision went against them. Fifteen minutes in, referee Daniele Doveri initially pointed to the spot for a foul on Dusan Vlahovic by Pablo Marí, only for VAR to overturn the call.
Clear chances were scarce in a cagey opening spell. Fiorentina’s Moise Kean came closest midway through the half, cutting inside and thundering an effort against the crossbar—nearly punishing his former club. Moments later, Mandragora went close from a free-kick, before Vlahovic rounded David de Gea at the other end but could only find the side netting under heavy defensive pressure.
The breakthrough eventually came in first-half stoppage time. Fiorentina failed to fully clear a cross from the right, and Filip Kostić pounced, drilling a low 25-yard strike into the bottom corner to give Juventus the lead.
However, Mandragora produced an even more spectacular response immediately after the restart. From well outside the box, the midfielder unleashed a thunderous shot into the top corner, leaving Michele Di Gregorio with no chance and levelling the match in stunning fashion.
Both sides continued trading ambitious long-range efforts, with Manuel Locatelli, Kenan Yıldız and Kean all testing the goalkeepers from distance before the hour mark. As the match approached its final stages, Juventus appeared the more threatening, but Fabio Miretti’s shot into the side netting and Francisco Conceição’s tame effort were as close as they came—until De Gea made a sharp save to tip Weston McKennie’s header over the bar.
De Gea’s late intervention ensured the points were shared. The draw extends Juventus’ run to just two wins in their last 13 matches across all competitions, while Fiorentina have now gone two Serie A games without defeat for the first time since the opening weeks of the season.
