Daniss Jenkins delivered a career-best 30 points as the Detroit Pistons ended the Los Angeles Lakers’ nine-game winning streak with a 113-110 victory on Monday.

The clash between Eastern Conference leaders Detroit and a red-hot Lakers side lived up to expectations, with Los Angeles battling back from a 16-point second-half deficit to push the game to the final moments.

Austin Reaves briefly put the Lakers ahead 110-109 with just 30 seconds remaining after converting a floating jump shot.

However, Jenkins held his nerve in the closing stages, scoring Detroit’s final four points to seal a hard-fought win.

Luka Doncic, who finished with 32 points, had a chance to force overtime with a last-second three-pointer, but his attempt narrowly missed.

The Detroit Pistons were once again without star guard Cade Cunningham, who remains sidelined indefinitely after suffering a collapsed lung.

In Cunningham’s absence, Daniss Jenkins stepped up to lead the team, while Jalen Duren contributed 20 points and 11 rebounds. Duncan Robinson also chipped in with 12 points.

Pistons coach JB Bickerstaff praised Jenkins’ impact, saying he has consistently delivered when given the opportunity, whether during key stretches of the game or in clutch moments.

The Los Angeles Lakers will conclude their six-game road trip against the struggling Indiana Pacers on Wednesday before heading back to California.

Doncic’s 32-point performance was supported by 24 points from Austin Reaves.

LeBron James came close to recording a triple-double, finishing with 12 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds.

The Detroit Pistons improved to 52-19, strengthening their position at the top of the Eastern Conference with a five-game lead over the Boston Celtics (47-24).

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers dropped to 46-26 but remain third in the Western Conference, holding a two-game advantage over the fourth-placed Houston Rockets.

In other action, the Oklahoma City Thunder extended their winning streak to 12 games with a dominant 123-103 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on the road.

The undermanned Sixers struggled to keep pace with the Western Conference leaders, who established a double-digit lead early in the second quarter and never looked back.

Reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way with 22 points, while six Thunder players finished in double figures.

The win saw Oklahoma City improve to 57-19, maintaining a three-game cushion over the pursuing San Antonio Spurs.

San Antonio kept the pressure on with a convincing 136-111 win over the Miami Heat in Florida. Victor Wembanyama top-scored with 26 points, while Dylan Harper and Keldon Johnson each added 21 points off the bench.
