Jason Theuma reaches 300 career appearances in Gozo Football

Kercem Ajax defender Jason Theuma recently reached a remarkable personal milestone, making his 300th career appearance in competitive football. The 29-year-old achieved the landmark during a First Division Knock-Out Cup match against Xagħra United on 16 November, a tie that Kercem eventually won on penalties. That victory was followed a week later by an emphatic 6–1 semi-final win over Xewkija Tigers.
A tall and composed defender who can also operate in a defensive midfield role, Theuma is a product of St Lawrence Spurs. Remarkably, his senior career began at an exceptionally young age, as he made his debut in the MFA Third Division with Gozo FC on 19 March 2011, coming on as a substitute against Kalkara just one day before his 15th birthday. The following season, on 18 February 2012, he went on to make his senior debut for St Lawrence Spurs in a match against Żebbuġ Rovers.
Theuma enjoyed a long and successful spell with the Saints, making 185 appearances and scoring 20 goals, while also being part of the squad that lifted the Second Division championship in the 2013/14 season. In 2020, he moved to Kercem Ajax, where he has since added over 100 official appearances to his career tally.
His impact at Kercem has been significant. Last season, Theuma played a key role in the club’s highly successful campaign, which saw them win the Second Division championship, the Division II Knock-Out Cup and the Division II Challenge Cup, while also reaching the GFA Cup final.
Known for his discipline, consistency and no-nonsense approach, Theuma is widely regarded as a model professional. He continues to work diligently away from the spotlight, pushing himself in training and letting his performances on the pitch speak for themselves—an example of quiet commitment and loyalty in the modern game.
