James Harden of the Cleveland Cavaliers suffered a fractured thumb in Wednesday’s 109-94 victory over the New York Knicks, leaving him questionable for their next outing, the team confirmed.

“Cavaliers guard James Harden injured his right thumb in last night’s win over New York,” the team said in a statement. “A postgame examination by the Cavaliers’ medical staff, followed by X-rays taken today, confirmed a non-displaced fracture of the distal phalanx.”

Harden will receive treatment and continued evaluation and is listed as QUESTIONABLE for Cleveland’s upcoming game against the Milwaukee Bucks. The team added that updates on his status will be provided as needed.

The injury comes as a setback for a Cavaliers squad in strong form. Since acquiring the former NBA Most Valuable Player earlier this month, Cleveland has won six of seven games. They currently sit joint-third in the Eastern Conference and are considered one of the top contenders for this year’s NBA title.

The 36-year-old superstar, despite his decorated career, has yet to win an NBA championship. “We’re working to build something special,” Harden said following his team’s recent victory.
