Inter Milan climbed back into Serie A’s top four with a commanding 3–0 victory over Fiorentina at the San Siro, securing their third consecutive home win over the Viola, who remain without a league victory this season.

The match began at a cautious pace, with both sides struggling to find rhythm on a slick, rain-soaked pitch. Inter dominated early possession but created little to trouble Fiorentina’s backline. Nearly half an hour passed before the first real chance arrived, when David de Gea denied Alessandro Bastoni after a surging run from midfield.

That opportunity sparked Inter into life. Federico Dimarco forced De Gea into another sharp save soon after, as the Spanish goalkeeper managed to toe away the wing-back’s close-range strike.

Fiorentina, meanwhile, offered very little going forward. Their only meaningful effort of the first half came from Moise Kean, whose tame shot was comfortably held by Yann Sommer.

The pattern continued after the break, with Inter firmly in control. Dimarco again went close, while Denzel Dumfries saw a powerful volley somehow beaten away by De Gea, who was keeping Fiorentina in the game almost single-handedly. The Spaniard also tipped over a rising effort from Yann Bisseck before finally being beaten just past the hour mark.

Inter’s breakthrough came through Hakan Çalhanoğlu, who shifted the ball onto his right foot and drilled a precise 25-yard strike into the bottom corner — a moment of quality that lifted the tension around San Siro.

The hosts doubled their lead soon after through Petar Sucic, who powered his way past Rolando Mandragora, weaved into the box, and fired in at the near post to make it 2–0.

Any faint hope Fiorentina had of salvaging a point disappeared late on when Mattia Viti brought down Ange-Yoan Bonny inside the area, earning a second yellow card and conceding a penalty. Çalhanoğlu stepped up to convert from the spot, sealing a comfortable win for Simone Inzaghi’s men.

The victory puts Inter firmly back in contention near the top of the table, trailing only Napoli and Roma, while Fiorentina’s dismal start continues. Stefano Pioli’s side are now enduring their worst-ever opening to a Serie A season and remain rooted near the foot of the standings.
