Frank’s Tottenham come alive as Romero’s late brace secures point at Newcastle

Four goals came in the final 20 minutes as Newcastle were held to a 2-2 draw by Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, ending the Magpies’ 15-match winning streak.
Newcastle, coming off a 4-1 victory at Everton following their Champions League disappointment against Marseille, started brightly. Lewis Hall and Harvey Barnes impressed early, while Lewis Miley’s shot tested Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. Joelinton nearly opened the scoring, dragging a shot onto the far post, before Lucas Bergvall went close for Spurs with a backheel that brushed the crossbar.
The second half saw Newcastle dominate. Barnes forced a strong save from Vicario, and Kevin Danso cleared Nick Woltemade’s header off the line. Newcastle finally broke the deadlock in the 70th minute when Bruno Guimaraes finished a loose clearance with a precise strike into the bottom corner.
Spurs responded with their first shot on target seven minutes later, Cristian Romero powering a header past Dan Burn to equalise. Controversy followed when VAR awarded a penalty for Rodrigo Bentancur’s hold on Burn, allowing Anthony Gordon to fire into the top corner for his first Premier League goal of the season.
In stoppage time, Romero completed the dramatic turnaround with a stunning overhead kick from a corner, securing a point for Tottenham. The draw leaves Spurs winless in five matches, while Newcastle’s six-match home winning streak comes to an agonising end.
