Curry powers Warriors past Timberwolves as Raptors beat Thunder

Stephen Curry scored 26 points as the Golden State Warriors cruised to a 111-85 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday, in a game played against the backdrop of unrest and uncertainty in Minneapolis.
The Warriors star, already the NBA’s all-time leader in three-pointers, moved into a tie with Paul Pierce for 19th on the league’s all-time scoring list, finishing the night with 26,397 career points. Cleared to play shortly before tip-off despite knee soreness, Curry endured a below-par shooting display, converting just seven of his 18 attempts.
However, he made all nine of his free throws and contributed seven assists and four steals in a dominant Golden State performance. The Warriors led for most of the contest, which had been postponed from Saturday following the fatal shooting of US citizen Alex Pretti by federal agents amid an ongoing immigration crackdown in the city.
Pretti’s death came less than three weeks after another fatal shooting involving immigration officials in Minneapolis, deepening tensions across the community.
Golden State forward Moses Moody, who added 19 points, eight rebounds and two blocks, reflected on the emotional atmosphere inside the arena.
“You could definitely feel the weight of the city,” Moody said. “With so many people gathered during a time like this, the emotion was impossible to ignore.”
Anthony Edwards led Minnesota with 32 points and 11 rebounds, but the Timberwolves suffered their fifth consecutive defeat.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr described the mood as deeply unsettling.
“The vibe in the stands was one of the most bizarre and sad I’ve ever experienced,” Kerr said. “It felt like the home team was suffering.”
The game began with a moment of silence for Pretti, and fans voiced their opposition to the presence of federal immigration officials in the city.
Around the League
The Toronto Raptors handed the league-leading Oklahoma City Thunder a second straight defeat, edging out a 101-99 victory behind Immanuel Quickley’s 23 points and 11 rebounds. His back-to-back three-pointers late in the fourth quarter proved decisive, as Toronto secured a fourth consecutive win.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 24 points for Oklahoma City but was limited to just three in the final quarter. Despite the loss, the Thunder remain league leaders with a 37-10 record.
In San Antonio, Zion Williamson and Saddiq Bey each scored 24 points to lift the New Orleans Pelicans to a 104-95 win over the Spurs. Victor Wembanyama led San Antonio with 16 points, but his team could not sustain a late comeback.
Severe winter storms across the United States forced the cancellation of two games: Memphis versus Denver and Milwaukee versus Dallas. The Mavericks were unable to travel following their loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, and after hours at the airport, their game in Wisconsin was called off.
Meanwhile, Cade Cunningham starred for the Eastern Conference-leading Detroit Pistons, recording 29 points and 11 assists in a commanding 139-116 victory over the Sacramento Kings.
