Bournemouth cruise to victory, deepening Wolves’ woes

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola marked his 100th Premier League game in charge with a 2-0 victory at Wolverhampton Wanderers, as the Cherries secured back-to-back league wins for the first time since September.
Wolves appeared to take the lead just seven minutes in when Matheus Mané nodded home from close range, but the goal was ruled out for offside after Rodrigo Gomes was adjudged to have strayed before delivering the cross.
Despite having lost only one of their previous five league matches, Wolves struggled to create meaningful chances in an underwhelming first half, with flashes of the form that contributed to their current rock-bottom position. Bournemouth, meanwhile, were not particularly sharp themselves early on, despite confidence-boosting wins over Tottenham and Liverpool in recent weeks.
The deadlock was finally broken just after the half-hour mark through a moment of brilliance from Eli Junior Kroupi. Receiving a pass from Amine Adli, the forward struck a half-volley from outside the area that flew past José Sá, giving Bournemouth a 1-0 lead at the break and Kroupi his eighth goal of the season.
Wolves, who had scored nine of their ten home league goals this season before halftime, faced an uphill task in the second half. Bournemouth largely sat on their advantage, surrendering possession but defending resolutely, while Wolves struggled to find clear openings. Their best chance came late when Mané’s cross found Jørgen Strand Larsen inside the six-yard box, but his effort went wide.
The visitors sealed the win in the first minute of stoppage time when Alex Scott converted from close range, underlining Bournemouth’s dominance and compounding Wolves’ frustrations.
Still at the bottom of the table and 17 points from safety, Wolves have now lost each of their last four home league encounters against Bournemouth. Meanwhile, the Cherries moved up to 13th, celebrating Iraola’s century of league matches in style.
