All-Star guard Trae Young to debut for Washington Wizards

Washington Wizards guard Trae Young is set to make his team debut on Thursday, February 5, when Washington faces the Utah Jazz, according to NBA insider Shams Charania.
The 27-year-old was acquired earlier this season in a trade with the Atlanta Hawks, with Washington sending CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert the other way.
Young is currently averaging 19.3 points and 8.9 assists per game — both his lowest marks since his rookie campaign in 2018-19. In every other season of his career, he has averaged at least 24.0 points and 9.0 assists per game.
A four-time NBA All-Star, Young earned All-NBA honors in the 2021-22 season after posting 28.4 points and 9.7 assists per game while shooting 38 percent from three-point range.
Following the 2024-25 season, Young claimed the league’s Assist Champion award after leading the NBA with 880 total assists and an average of 11.6 assists per game. Nikola Jokić finished second that year with 716 total assists while averaging 10.6 per contest.
Young also led the league in total assists during the 2020-21 campaign and has finished in the top four in total assists in every season of his career except one (2023-24), underlining his consistency as one of the NBA’s premier playmakers.
