World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz delivered another statement performance on Saturday, dismantling Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-1 to capture the Qatar Open title and maintain his flawless start to the 2026 season.

Fresh from completing the career Grand Slam at the Australian Open just 20 days earlier, the Spaniard was in total command from the first ball. He dominated behind his serve, winning an astonishing 89 per cent of his first-serve points, and did not face a single break point during a one-sided 50-minute final.

Alcaraz’s relentless baseline depth and sharp returning left Fils with little room to impose his powerful game. The top seed broke early in both sets, dictating rallies with trademark intensity and precision to wrap up his second title of the year in emphatic fashion.

“I came this year hungry for more,” Alcaraz said after lifting the trophy, a year on from a quarter-final exit in Doha. “I think after every tournament, we just have to set new goals. I’m just really happy and proud of everything I have done with my team on and off the court.”

The victory improves Alcaraz’s record to 12-0 in 2026 and secures his ninth ATP 500 crown, drawing him level with Andy Murray for fourth-most titles in the category since its inception, according to the ATP.

With confidence surging and silverware already piling up, Alcaraz’s pursuit of further milestones this season shows no signs of slowing.
