West Ham United and AFC Bournemouth shared the spoils in a forgettable 0-0 draw at the London Stadium, the sixth successive Premier League meeting between the sides to end all square.

The Hammers nearly made the perfect start inside 60 seconds. Axel Disasi rose highest to meet Jarrod Bowen’s corner, forcing a sharp save, and his follow-up effort was deflected over the crossbar. Moments later, Crysencio Summerville was played through by a perfectly weighted pass from Taty Castellanos, but he fired straight at Đorđe Petrović.

Bournemouth gradually settled and began to edge possession, though clear-cut chances remained scarce. Rayan’s speculative effort was comfortably gathered by Mads Hermansen, while at the other end Soungoutou Magassa saw an attempt blocked and Marcos Senesi’s header was routinely saved.

Set-pieces offered West Ham their most promising route to goal. Castellanos’ header from another Bowen delivery was deflected behind by James Hill, before Bowen himself dragged a shot harmlessly wide. Long-range efforts from Alex Scott and Summerville shortly before the break summed up a scrappy first half, with neither troubling the goalkeepers.

The pattern continued after the restart. Magassa had another ambitious effort blocked and failed to properly connect with an inviting Aaron Wan-Bissaka cross. Rayan provided a rare spark for the visitors, gliding forward and curling a shot narrowly wide of the post.

Substitute David Brooks injected urgency, seeing one effort deflected behind and another blocked, while Castellanos’ acrobatic attempt flew off target. El Hadji Malick Diouf produced a timely sliding challenge to deny Rayan as both sides searched for a breakthrough.

Chances arrived at either end late on. Callum Wilson’s instinctive strike was saved, Scott’s drive was kept out, and Summerville — a persistent threat throughout — was twice denied, including by Álex Jiménez in stoppage time. West Ham’s best opportunity fell to Bowen with 90 seconds remaining, but under pressure from Adrien Truffert’s sliding challenge, he fired over.

Ultimately, neither side could find the decisive touch. The result leaves West Ham with just one defeat in their last eight matches in all competitions, though three consecutive draws will do little to ease concerns as they hover nervously above the relegation zone, with Nottingham Forest within touching distance below.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, extend their unbeaten run to seven matches and continue to nurture ambitions of a push for European qualification.
