Heat and Rockets extend winning streaks to four games

Norman Powell poured in a game-high 36 points to lift the Miami Heat to a 118-112 victory over Eastern Conference leaders Detroit Pistons on Thursday, extending Miami’s winning streak to four games.
Powell knocked down seven three-pointers in a standout performance, while Jaime Jaquez Jr. provided 19 points off the bench. Andrew Wiggins added 17 points, and Bam Adebayo posted a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds as the Heat improved to 19-15.
Despite the loss, Detroit remain one of the league’s elite teams at 25-9, holding the NBA’s second-best record behind Western Conference leaders Oklahoma City (29-5). Cade Cunningham led the Pistons with 31 points, 11 assists, and eight rebounds.
The Houston Rockets also pushed their winning streak to four games, cruising to a 120-96 road victory over the Brooklyn Nets.
Kevin Durant finished with 22 points and a season-high 11 assists, while Amen Thompson sparked Houston with 23 points on an efficient 10-of-12 shooting night. Alperen Şengün chipped in with 20 points, six rebounds, and six assists as the Rockets improved to 21-10.
Brooklyn, now 10-21, were led by 21 points off the bench from Cam Thomas.
In Dallas, Tyrese Maxey delivered a dominant all-around performance, recording 34 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds to guide the Philadelphia 76ers to a 123-108 win over the Mavericks.
Philadelphia received strong support from V.J. Edgecombe, who scored 23 points, Joel Embiid with 22, and reserve Quentin Grimes, who added 19 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks on 7-of-9 shooting.
“Needed to come in and just try to be myself—be aggressive, be in attack mode, and get myself and my teammates involved,” Grimes said.
The victory lifted the Sixers to 18-14, good for fifth in the Eastern Conference. Dallas, led by 18 points from Max Christie, suffered their fourth straight defeat and dropped to 12-23.
Grimes expressed confidence in Philadelphia’s outlook as Embiid continues to return to full fitness and Paul George regains his top form.
“We’re getting Joel back to full speed and Paul is getting back to where he was with the Clippers,” Grimes said. “As long as we take it day by day and keep finding our rhythm, I feel like we can be one of the better teams coming out of the East.”
