Diogo Jota’s two sons will take part as mascots at Anfield for Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, according to The Times.

The Portuguese forward, who had played for both clubs, tragically passed away in a car accident alongside his younger brother in July in northwestern Spain. He was 28.

Liverpool has yet to comment on the report when contacted by Reuters outside of normal UK business hours.

Jota joined Wolves on loan from Atlético Madrid in 2017 before making a permanent move a year later. In 2020, he signed a five-year contract with Liverpool, helping the club secure the league title earlier this year.

Saturday’s game will be the first meeting between Liverpool and Wolves since Jota’s passing.

Jota’s wife, Rute Cardoso, and their sons, Dinis and Duarte, were also in attendance at the Premier League home openers for both Liverpool and Wolves back in August.
