Isak issues injury update as Liverpool await his return
Liverpool forward Alexander Isak has issued a fresh update after undergoing surgery on a fractured leg.
The Sweden international faces an extended spell on the sidelines after picking up the injury during Liverpool’s victory over Tottenham last Saturday, with the procedure taking place earlier this week.
Isak is not expected to return until the closing stages of the season as he begins a lengthy rehabilitation process.
Sharing an update on social media following the operation, the striker wrote:
“Gutted to be out for a while. Time to recover and support from the sideline.
“I will work hard to be back as soon as I possibly can. Thank you all Reds and everyone else for the kind messages — it does not go unnoticed. #YNWA”
Isak has recorded two goals and one assist in 10 Premier League appearances this season, and also found the net once in the Carabao Cup.
