Nathan Aspinall secures German Darts Championship triumph for third European Tour success

Nathan Aspinall captured his third PDC European Tour title of the season after defeating Dirk van Duijvenbode 8–6 in the final of the German Darts Championship 2025 on Sunday.
The victory adds to Aspinall’s earlier triumphs this year at the European Darts Trophy in Göttingen and the European Darts Open in Leverkusen, further cementing his status as one of the most consistent players on the circuit in 2025. The Englishman also reached the final of the International Darts Open in April, narrowly missing out on what would have been a fourth title of the season.
Strong Start and Shifting Momentum
The final began evenly, with both players finding their rhythm early. Van Duijvenbode impressed in the opening stages, firing in a series of 180s and coming close to a perfect leg in the second, missing the eighth dart before completing the leg in ten darts.
With the score level at 2–2, Aspinall began to take control. The 32-year-old broke throw to move 4–2 ahead, then extended his lead to 6–2 with one of the moments of the match — a 301 finish in six darts, comprising a 180 followed by a 121 checkout.
Aspinall missed chances to make it 7–2, allowing Van Duijvenbode to break back and spark a potential comeback. The Dutchman took advantage of a brief dip in Aspinall’s scoring to level the contest at 6–6, producing another crucial break of throw.
Closing Out the Victory
However, Aspinall regained his composure in the closing stages, holding throw to move 7–6 ahead before sealing the title with a decisive break in the final leg.
The win marks yet another successful weekend for the world number five, who continues to demonstrate consistency across the European Tour season.
