Spurs extend winning streak to 11 games as Rockets’ Kevin Durant reaches career milestone

The San Antonio Spurs extended their winning streak to 11 games on Thursday, cruising past the Brooklyn Nets 126-110 and closing the gap on the Western Conference-leading Oklahoma City Thunder.
Julian Champagnie led the charge with 26 points, while Victor Wembanyama had a quieter night, scoring 12 points on three of nine shooting but hitting all six free throws. The French star also contributed eight rebounds, five assists, two steals, and two blocks. Seven Spurs players finished in double figures, including Stephon Castle with 18 points and De’Aaron Fox and Devin Vassell with 14 apiece.
Undefeated in February, San Antonio is on its longest winning streak since a 13-game run during the 2015-16 season. “It feels like players are finding different ways to win,” Spurs coach Mitch Johnson said. “That’s a sign of growth.”
Meanwhile, Kevin Durant powered the Houston Rockets to a 113-108 comeback victory over the Orlando Magic, scoring a season-high 40 points. Durant poured in 26 points in the second half to erase a 19-point deficit and sealed the win with four clutch free throws. The 37-year-old two-time champion also reached a major career milestone, becoming the sixth player in NBA history to surpass 32,000 career points. “Just to be mentioned in the same category with some of the greatest athletes of all time… I’m just honored and blessed,” Durant said.
In Phoenix, Royce O’Neale hit a game-winning three-pointer with 1.7 seconds left to give the Suns a 113-110 victory over the Lakers. Grayson Allen led the Suns with 28 points, while Luka Doncic scored 41 for Los Angeles. LeBron James’ late put-back tied the game at 110, but the Lakers couldn’t convert on the final possession, dropping their third straight.
Tyrese Maxey made history in Philadelphia, breaking the 76ers’ franchise record for career three-pointers during a 124-117 win over the Miami Heat. Maxey scored 28 points and added 11 assists, surpassing Allen Iverson’s record of 885 triples. Joel Embiid contributed 26 points and 11 rebounds, helping the Sixers hold off multiple Miami rallies.
Charlotte rookie Kon Knueppel set a new NBA rookie record for most three-pointers in a season, hitting eight threes in the Hornets’ 133-109 victory over the Indiana Pacers. Knueppel’s 207th three-pointer of the season broke Keegan Murray’s previous mark of 206, with his eight treys tying his career high.
