Brazilian teenager Rayan has completed a move to Bournemouth from Vasco da Gama after signing a five-and-a-half-year contract, the Premier League side confirmed on Tuesday.

The Cherries have not revealed the transfer fee, though reports in the British media suggest the deal is worth an initial £24.7 million, with a further £5.6 million in performance-related add-ons. Sky Sports also claims the agreement includes a release clause set at €100 million.

The 19-year-old enjoyed a productive season in Brazil’s top flight, scoring 14 goals in 34 appearances as Vasco finished 14th in the table. His performances have also earned him international recognition, with 11 caps and two goals for Brazil’s Under-20 side.

Rayan’s arrival strengthens Andoni Iraola’s attacking options following Antoine Semenyo’s recent move to Manchester City, and the club sees the youngster as a key part of their long-term plans.

“We believe he has enormous potential, and Bournemouth is the right environment for him to continue his development and make an impact,” said president of football operations Tiago Pinto.

Bournemouth currently sit 13th in the Premier League on 30 points, having recently recorded an impressive 3-2 victory over champions Liverpool. They return to action on Saturday with an away trip to bottom-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.
