Minibus crash kills seven PAOK supporters heading to Lyon fixture

A minibus carrying Greek football supporters was involved in a fatal collision with a truck in western Romania on Tuesday, resulting in seven deaths and three injuries, authorities have confirmed.
The vehicle, transporting 10 men from Greece to France, crashed in Timis County while en route to a Europa League fixture, according to local police.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said he was “deeply shaken” by the tragedy and expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and to the PAOK community.
“In these difficult moments, together with all Greeks, I extend my most sincere sympathy to the loved ones of the victims and to the PAOK family,” he wrote on Facebook.
Police said the 29-year-old driver of the minibus crossed into the opposite lane before colliding head-on with the truck.
Emergency services reported that six of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while a seventh later died from injuries. Three others were taken to hospital for treatment.
Thessaloniki mayor Stelios Angeloudis confirmed that the passengers were supporters of PAOK Thessaloniki travelling to an away match.
PAOK are due to face Lyon in the Europa League on Thursday.
