Hibernians stay perfect as Playoff Battle intensifies in MAPFRE MSV Life Women’s Basketball League


Starlites Revive boosted their playoff hopes with an assured victory over Valletta Dream. The Naxxar side were inspired by a strong double-double from Haverlock, who finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Rebecca Naudi also recorded a double-double. Mikela Riolo added a valuable 18 points to complete a convincing team performance. Valletta replied through Sandra Lin, who led her side with 21 points, supported by 17 points from Pollaco.
The standout fixture of the week saw Caffe Moak Luxol edge Betsson Depiro in a keenly contested encounter, a result that left the two teams level on points in second place. Luxol’s young core shone, with Eve Axisa, Sarah Fenech Pace, Lisa Fenech Pace and Wikstrom all reaching double figures. Depiro were without injured Sophie Abela, and Lovely Sonnier led their scoring with a solid double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Hibernians continued their impressive run of form by comfortably overcoming Athleta in a match they controlled throughout. Josephine Diaby led the way for the Paolites with an imposing double-double of 19 points and 16 rebounds, while De Martino and Macleod also contributed in double figures. Athleta’s main offensive threat came from Macy Smith, who finished with 25 points and 12 rebounds.
