Crystal Palace defender Marc Guéhi looks set to depart the club this summer as several European heavyweights prepare potential bids for the England international.

A move to Liverpool was close to completion earlier in the window before Palace pulled the plug at the final stage, but the Reds are expected to renew their interest as they look to fend off competition from other top clubs.

Guéhi’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season, leaving Palace with a key decision to make. The Eagles must either sell the centre-back in January or risk losing him on a free transfer in the summer.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Palace manager Oliver Glasner and the club’s hierarchy have set an asking price of between £35 million and £40 million for the 25-year-old, who is open to a move should the right opportunity arise.

Bayern Munich and Manchester City are also monitoring Guéhi’s situation, though Plettenberg reports that the defender is currently “leaning towards a free transfer in the summer,” a scenario that would offer no financial return for Palace.

Liverpool are believed to be leading the race, particularly in light of an ACL injury suffered by summer signing Giovanni Leoni, stalled contract negotiations with Ibrahima Konaté, and Virgil van Dijk approaching his 35th birthday.

With the transfer window set to close in the coming weeks, developments are expected soon as Guéhi awaits formal offers from clubs keen to secure his signature.
