West Ham have confirmed the signing of winger Adama Traoré from Fulham for an undisclosed fee, the club announced on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old reunites with manager Nuno Espírito Santo at the London Stadium, having previously worked under him during their time together at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

In a statement, the Premier League strugglers described Traoré as “strong, quick and capable of creating and scoring goals”.

Traoré, who has featured only sporadically for Fulham this season, began his career in Barcelona’s academy before moving to Aston Villa in 2015. He has also represented Middlesbrough and Wolves during his time in England.

The winger has made 262 Premier League appearances, scoring 14 goals, and says he is determined to play his part in helping West Ham avoid relegation.

“I love challenges,” Traoré said. “We have to take it game by game and always give our best. Everything comes from belief, and I believe we can achieve what we’re aiming for.”

Nuno welcomed the chance to work again with the Spain international, who has earned eight senior caps.

“Adama knows the Premier League extremely well,” the West Ham boss said. “His qualities, both on and off the pitch, will be important for us between now and the end of the season.

“He gives us a different attacking option and brings energy, commitment and determination to our challenge.”

West Ham currently sit third from bottom in the Premier League, five points from safety, but have boosted their survival hopes with recent victories over Tottenham and Sunderland.

The club have been active in the January transfer window, also bringing in forwards Pablo Felipe and Taty Castellanos as they fight to stay in the top flight.

The transfer window closes on Monday.
