An email from Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob was leaked over the weekend after he responded to a fan expressing frustration with the team’s struggles this season.

The exchange occurred between Lacob and Justin Dutari, a 27-year-old fan from Panama who has supported the Warriors for more than a decade. Dutari emailed Lacob outlining his concerns about the team’s direction and recent performance.

Lacob replied by acknowledging the frustration, writing, “You can’t be as frustrated as me. I am working on it. It’s complicated.” He went on to cite several factors impacting the team, including the style of play, coaching preferences regarding players, and league-wide trends, adding that “Jimmy (Butler) is not the problem.”

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr addressed the leaked email, downplaying its significance. “It’s not a big deal,” Kerr said. “Joe supports me. I support him.”

The comments came one day after Golden State suffered a 136–131 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. Following that defeat, Kerr took responsibility for the team’s struggles, saying, “I’m not doing my job well this year.”

The Warriors currently sit at 13–14 on the season and are 4–6 over their last 10 games.

Golden State traded for and signed veteran forward Jimmy Butler last season, and he has been one of the team’s most productive players. Butler is averaging 19.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in 23 of the Warriors’ 27 games this season. His points, assists, and 1.6 steals per game all rank second on the team.
