Tottenham weigh up late transfer bid for Crystal Palace striker Mateta

Tottenham are weighing up a late move for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta, according to sources.
The French forward has been heavily linked with Nottingham Forest, who have been working to secure a deal reportedly worth around £35 million. However, Forest have remained wary of a potential last-minute intervention from a top-tier club.
AC Milan and Juventus have also monitored Mateta in recent weeks but have struggled to meet the financial requirements of a permanent transfer. Tottenham, in contrast, would not face the same restrictions and have carried out background checks to gauge whether a deal could be feasible before the transfer window closes.
As of Tuesday evening, Palace have not received any formal approach from Spurs, though a potential move is understood to be under consideration.
Tottenham have been reviewing their attacking options throughout the window. While the club’s primary focus has been on securing a wide attacker, they remain open to strengthening their central striking options if the right opportunity presents itself.
Adding to the intrigue, Juventus’ interest in Spurs forward Randal Kolo Muani could influence Tottenham’s plans.
Elsewhere, Tottenham have also explored the possibility of signing Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche and continue to monitor the goalkeeping market, with Wolves’ Sam Johnstone among those under consideration.
