Tottenham Hotspur have been fined €30,000 ($35,000) by UEFA following what the governing body described as “racist or discriminatory behaviour” by supporters during their 2-0 Champions League victory at Eintracht Frankfurt in January.

UEFA confirmed the sanction on Monday and also imposed a suspended one-match ban on Spurs selling tickets to their fans for an away fixture in European competition. The ban will only be activated if a similar incident occurs within a one-year probationary period.

The punishment relates to crowd behaviour during the group-stage clash in Germany, which Tottenham won comfortably as part of their successful European campaign.

Spurs are set to face Atletico Madrid later this month in the Champions League last 16, with the club now under scrutiny to ensure there are no further incidents involving travelling supporters.
