Women’s Jubilee Cup: Semi-Final Clashes Set to Decide December 8 Finalists

The Women’s Jubilee Cup returns this weekend with two high-stakes semi-finals that will determine the lineup for this year’s final, scheduled for December 8.
The last four teams remaining are the same quartet that dominated last season’s standings: Swieqi United, Mġarr United, Hibernians, and Birkirkara.
Semi-Final Weekend Preview
The action begins on Friday with the clash between Hibernians and Birkirkara, while Saturday will see a highly anticipated showdown between Swieqi United and league leaders Mġarr United.
Mġarr enter the semi-final in exceptional form as the only team with a perfect record in the Assikura Women’s League—eight wins from eight matches, 32 goals scored, and just two conceded, boasting both the league’s strongest attack and best defence.
The Greens have already defeated Swieqi twice in league fixtures this season and will be seeking a third victory to secure their place in the final. However, Swieqi were the winners in their early-season Super Cup meeting, lifting the first silverware of the 2025–26 campaign at Mġarr’s expense.
Key Players and Team Form
Mġarr’s attacking force is led by French striker Josline N’Guessan, who has netted seven goals so far, ranking as the league’s third-highest scorer behind Swieqi stars Salamatu Abdulai (11 goals) and Sara Saliba (9 goals).
Swieqi, currently joint-second in the league alongside Hibernians on 18 points, will once again rely on their potent frontline to push for a place in the Jubilee Cup final. They head into the semi-final fresh from a 4–1 victory over Birkirkara last weekend.
Birkirkara & Hibernians: Two Sides with Different Momentum
Birkirkara will aim to turn their season around in the cup competition, having struggled for consistency in the league with just nine points from eight matches.
Hibernians, on the other hand, have enjoyed an encouraging start under new coach Martina Borg. The Paolites have been boosted by the recent signings of Chisha Zulu (Zambia) and Sylivia Kabene (Uganda), who have added firepower and depth as the team look to compete strongly across all fronts.
