2025 Medcomms Round Malta Race to Conclude RMYC Season with Record Entries and Top Prizes

The 2025 Royal Malta Yacht Club (RMYC) racing season will culminate in the eagerly anticipated Medcomms Round Malta Race, scheduled for Friday, December 13.
This popular event is shaping up to be highly competitive, with 23 boats already confirmed on the starting list. Medcomms continues its long-standing commitment as the title sponsor, solidifying a cornerstone partnership for this iconic race.
The fleet showcases a healthy mix of dedicated racers and cruising yachts, with a notable increase in participation from the cruising community, highlighting the race’s growing appeal across all classes.
A mandatory race briefing will take place at the Royal Malta Yacht Club on Wednesday, December 10, at 7:00pm.
The competition among the racers is fierce. Last year’s overall winner, Sebastian Ripard’s Calypso, is set to defend his title against a formidable line-up of proven performers. These include the Podesta family’s Elusive 2, Sean Borg’s Jubatus, Jonathan Gambin’s Ton Ton Laferla, Andrew Agius Delicata and Matthew Gabriele’s Vivace, and Anton Calleja’s Lartista—all vessels with a strong history of competitive results in RMYC events.
In the cruisers’ class, participants include Mario Debono’s new boat Seven, Godwin Zammit’s Inspiration, Gino Cutajar’s Kira, and Matthew Zarb Cousin’s Thunder Child, among others.
Medcomms has generously supported a strong prize package to add further excitement:
- Overall Winner: A top-of-the-line Garmin quatix® 8 marine smartwatch.
- First in Class (all classes): A Kannad 40L Grab Bag backpack.
- Second in Class: €50 Medcomms vouchers.
- Third in Class: A Garmin backpack.
With a competitive fleet, increased interest from cruisers, and attractive incentives, the 2025 Medcomms Round Malta Race promises a thrilling conclusion to the Royal Malta Yacht Club’s racing season.
