Como strengthened their grip on sixth place in Serie A with an emphatic 3-0 victory away to Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico, extending their impressive away form and leaving the hosts without a home win in five matches (D3, L2).

Lazio came into the contest looking to build on a morale-boosting victory at Verona that ended a four-game winless run, but their hopes were dented almost immediately. Just two minutes after kick-off, Martin Baturina broke the deadlock, firing in from the edge of the area as his effort took a heavy deflection and crept inside the right post.

After the early setback, the game settled into a subdued rhythm, with both sides struggling to carve out clear chances. However, Como proved ruthless when opportunities arose. Midway through the first half, teenage star Nico Paz pounced on a loose ball in the box and calmly dispatched a close-range finish to double the visitors’ advantage from only their second attempt on goal.

The situation deteriorated further for the Biancocelesti when Kenneth Taylor conceded a penalty after fouling Maxence Caqueret inside the area. Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel offered a brief lifeline, diving low to his right to save Paz’s spot-kick and keep his side in contention at the break.

Any hopes of a Lazio revival were quickly extinguished after half-time. Just four minutes into the second period, Como struck again as Baturina and Paz combined in style. The Croatian produced a clever backheel to tee up Paz on the edge of the box, and the Argentine curled a sublime effort into the bottom-left corner to complete his brace.

With the result effectively sealed, clear-cut chances were at a premium. Como still looked the more threatening side and nearly added a fourth when Lucas Da Cunha found space in the box, but his effort was comfortably gathered by Provedel.

Maurizio Sarri’s side offered little resistance in the closing stages and failed to muster a meaningful response, allowing Como to see out a thoroughly deserved win. The victory gives the visitors a five-point cushion inside the Serie A top six, while Lazio’s already fading hopes of European qualification suffer another blow, leaving them nine points behind Como.
