Team Greens made a powerful start at the 30th Edition of the Visit Malta Tour of Malta Cycling, delivering podium finishes across categories and securing the red jersey in the opening Individual Time Trial held in San Ġwann.

The opening stage featured an 11.1km Individual Time Trial over ten laps, attracting strong local and international competition. Team Greens rider Giuseppe Seggio claimed victory in the Elite category with a winning time of 18 minutes and 55 seconds, earning the prestigious red jersey. Teammate Clive Ebejer also secured a podium finish, placing third in 19 minutes and 30 seconds, capping a remarkable day for the team.

In the Women’s category, Marie Claire Aquilina delivered another strong performance for Team Greens, finishing third in 21 minutes behind Ellie Mitchinson (Brother UK – On Form) and Gemma Mitchell (FTP Racing Team).

The Master’s category was won by Carmelo Nicolosi (Team Sparkle Scicli – Sicilia) in 18 minutes and 35 seconds, followed by Carmelo Aiello (MTB ASD Rosolini – Sicilia) and David Mitchinson (Sigma Sports Masters – UK).

Following the stage, medals and red jerseys were presented by Julian Pace Bonello, President of the Malta Olympic Committee, together with Domenic Cassar, Mayor of San Ġwann, and Salvatore Debono, Councillor of San Ġwann.

Organisers also appealed for public cooperation regarding road closures throughout the weekend to ensure the safety of all cyclists and spectators.

The Tour continues tomorrow, Saturday 25 April, on the San Martin circuit, where Elite riders will tackle eight laps (62.72km), while Women and Masters competitors will complete seven laps (54.88km).

The three-day event concludes on Sunday, 26 April, on the St Paul’s Bypass circuit, with racing starting at 7:30am. The Elite field will complete 12 laps (64.92km), while Women and Masters will race over 10 laps (54.1km).
